Fire truck shortage forces local departments to wait years for equipment

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Local fire departments are facing unprecedented delays for new equipment as a nationwide backlog forces them to wait years instead of months for fire trucks.

One fire truck in Aiken County is nearly 20 years old, ordered in 2005, and firefighters say they won’t see its replacement until 2027.
