Augusta commissioners looking at the 9 most underused parks for repurposing

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Consultants looked at all 51 city parks city and came up with the nine they say should be considered for other uses. “It’s always a hard decision when you’re talking about parks, when you’re talking about points of recreation that the community has leverage in many regards,” said Commissioner Don Clark.The park consultants said to upgrade and maintain the lowest scoring parks would cost $468,000.It’s putting parks like Barrett and Big Oak on a potential chopping block.“We have so many parks out there, we can’t take care of them to the caliber and standard they need to be taken care of.
