Brandon Overton Completes Weekend Sweep of Winter Freeze XVI at Screven Motor Speedway

(SYLVANIA, GEORGIA) Brandon Overton completed an impressive sweep of the ‘Winter Freeze XVI’ weekend at Screven Motor Speedway on Saturday evening, as the Evans, Georgia superstar led all but two circuits during the 50-lap headliner to bag a hefty $25,000 windfall! Brandon, who timed in second quickest overall during the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series qualifying session, won his heat race in preliminary action and later rolled off from the outside of the front row in the A-Main. After leading the first six circuits, “Big Sexy” powered back around Daulton Wilson to grab the point for good on the ninth lap.

At the unfurling of the checkered flag in front of the partisan crowd, Overton picked up his third straight win overall by besting Wilson by 0.848 of a second. The driver known as the “Big Perm” was strong throughout the contest, officially led laps 7-8, and was awarded a $10,000 payday for his strong runner-up performance. Fast timer Ryan Gustin rounded out the podium in third despite suffering spoiler damage during the race. Payton Freeman flexed his muscle to finish in the fourth spot, while Benji Hicks hard charged past fifteen competitors to nab the final position inside of the top five.

“I was so darn nervous because I knew my daughter was here tonight,” exclaimed the winning Overton in victory lane at the Sylvania, Georgia facility. “That is more pressure than anybody could put on me. I just wanted to win one for her. Thanks to all of these great fans that packed out the stands and a huge thanks to (track promoter) Redd for putting this show on. It’s awesome to win here close to the house – I just love racing here at Screven!”…
