ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Georgia Power customers pleaded with public service commissioners to pause the utility company’s plan to expand energy capacity to meet demands from the state’s booming data center industry.
Environmental groups and customers asked commissioners to reconsider the December approval of Georgia Power’s expansion plan, citing concerns about rate increases and environmental impact.

“I am here to ask, to implore, to beg you to pass that motion of reconsideration and reel back this in its current form, which looks to be a disaster for ratepayers and the environment,” one Georgia Power customer said during the hearing.
