Augusta launches free recycling event for scrap tires and electronics

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The City of Augusta is encouraging residents to get a head start on spring cleaning with a free recycling event this Saturday, Feb. 21.

The event is part of a quarterly initiative from the city to help reduce illegal dumping. Here are the following dates for 2026:

  • February 21, 2026
  • May 16, 2026
  • September 19, 2026
  • November 21, 2026

All events will take place from 7 a.m. – 10a.m. at the Augusta-Richmond County Landfill at 4330 Deans Bridge Road in Blythe, Ga.

Accepted items include scrap tires (on or off the rim) and electronics such as computers, televisions,and cell phones. Proof of Richmond County residency is required. No commercial tires or businessvehicles will be accepted, and scrap tires are not collected during weekly curbside pickup.
