Augusta’s Riverwalk partially closed for to replace damaged playground

A portion of the Edward McIntyre Riverwalk in downtown Augusta is closed for the next few weeks to replace a damaged playground.

The Augusta Recreation and Parks Department announced the temporary closure of the lower level of the Riverwalk between 8th Street and the Augusta Marina that started Monday.

The closure will allow crews to replace a playground play unit that was damaged during Hurricane Helene. The project is funded through federal grant dollars as part of Augusta’s ongoing storm recovery efforts…
