ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The father of a nursing student who was killed on the University of Georgia’s (UGA) campus has filed a lawsuit against the state’s university system and the apartment complex where the man convicted in her death was living.
Jason Riley, Laken Riley’s father, filed the lawsuit against the University System of Georgia and Argo Apartments in Athens.
Laken, a nursing student at Augusta University, was killed in February 2024 while out on a run on UGA’s campus. Jose Ibarra, an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole that same year…
