AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Augusta Dream Center will host its ninth annual Cinderella Day this Saturday, offering high school girls a free prom experience that includes dress selection, hair, makeup, shoes and swag bags.
Girls may register on the day of the event. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place in line. Organizers say approximately 5,000 dresses are available to choose from, and everything selected — including shoes — is the girl’s to keep.
What the event includes
Hallie Kohan, assistant director of the Augusta Dream Center, said the event has grown well beyond its original scope.
“It simply started with just getting them a dress and we realized we have them here, let’s make them feel so special,” Kohan said. “They get their hair done, makeup done, they get to pick out a dress out of our inventory, pick out shoes and then they get talked to about what a safe and healthy prom looks like. It’s really a great experience.”…
