Driver gets 2 years for 2024 wrong-way crash that hurt GSP trooper

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A drunk driver who injured Georgia State Patrol trooper while driving the wrong way in a 2024 crash on Riverwatch Parkway has been sentenced after pleading guilty to multiple charges, records say.

William Hawkins was arrested in connection with a wrong-way crash that injured a Georgia State Patrol trooper in May 2024.

He pleaded guilty in February to reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle and DUI charges, and will serve two years in confinement…
