Apr. 2—AIKEN — The Chalk Mine, a golf course housed on USC Aiken’s campus, has recently opened up to the public.
The 9-hole course, designed to be played in under 90 minutes, was previously used exclusively by the USCA golf team for practice as well as by First Tee Aiken, a local affiliate of the National Youth Golf Program.
First Tee Aiken’s CEO Summer Watson said that “it’s been wonderful” to welcome the public to the space, and that it will continue to remain open to locals and visitors during Masters Week, during which it’s expected to be less packed and less expensive than other area courses…
