Atlanta, Ga. (WJBF) — As more than 200,000 patrons and tourists pour into Augusta for The Masters Tournament, state leaders say they are ramping up efforts to combat human trafficking during one of the busiest weeks of the year.
Officials warn that large-scale events can create opportunities for traffickers to exploit vulnerable individuals — prompting a coordinated response from law enforcement across the state.
“If you see an adult and a child who aren’t interacting… who appear disheveled or traveling without luggage — those can be red flags,” said Chris Carr. “When officers are able to separate them and ask questions, that’s when we can step in and help.”…
