Augusta businesses rest after golf tournament week

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Augusta is readjusting to normal after golf week, and for businesses, it means they can finally rest after seeing thousands of visitors swarm the city.

“They come here for the tournament and there’s so much there that they don’t have to venture out. I think there’s just people who when they visit a new place, they’re the ones that are more curious and go,” said Catherine Alexander, business manager at Art on Broad.

Hotel revenue climbs over three years

Destination Augusta says hotel and motel revenue has increased between 6% and 13% over the last three years.

April 2025 saw $34.2 million in hotel and motel revenue, a 13.25% increase from 2024, according to Smith Travel Research. April 2024 brought in $30.2 million, up 7.86% from 2023. April 2023 recorded $28 million, up 6.85% from 2022, when revenue was $26 million…
