AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Patrick “Pat” Clayton, a longtime law enforcement officer and former chief deputy at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, has died after a battle with serious medical issues, according to his family.
Clayton spent 45 years in law enforcement, serving in roles that included the U.S. Air Force Security Police and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, as well as positions with the Charleston County Police Department, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration, where he worked as a task force supervisor in Savannah, Georgia.
He later served as chief of police for the Richmond County Board of Education’s campus police and then joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, where he became chief deputy. He retired Jan. 1, 2024…
