Ga. dad turns personal tragedy into mission for safer roads

Of developed nations, the United States is consistently ranked as the most dangerous country to drive in. Mike Lutzenkirchen experienced that reality in 2014 when his son Philip died in a car accident.

“It’s just like that. There’s a crash last night. Your son is dead,” Lutzenkirchen said, recalling his conversation with a coroner the day after the crash.

The Columbia County Coroner’s Office identified the victim of a house fire that occurred Saturday morning.

“We went to black hole for two weeks. We’re trying to figure out what do you do in life,” he said…
