AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A new Georgia law will make it easier for people with criminal records to access professional licenses and stable careers after completing their sentences.
The Georgia Occupational Licensing Fairness Act, signed into law by Gov. Brian Kemp on May 11, 2026, updates how the state’s professional licensing boards evaluate applicants who have a criminal history. The law takes effect July 1, 2027.
