RCSO: Dozens arrested in Operation Red Recoil street gang enforcement initiative

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unity has announced the conclusion of Operation Red Recoil, an initiative focused on gang activity and violent crime in the county.

Dozens were arrested as a part of the five-day operation, running from May 12 through May 16. The Sheriff’s Office worked with multiple local, state and federal law enforcement agencies during the operation.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office released the following list of results from Operation Red Recoil:

  • Suspected Gang Members Arrested: 24
  • Firearms Recovered: 29
  • U.S. Currency Seized: $33,520
  • Marijuana Seized: 5,124 grams (11.18 lbs)
  • Cocaine Seized: 40 grams
  • Fentanyl Seized: 676 grams (1.49 lbs)
  • Methamphetamine Seized: 3.3 grams
  • Oxycodone Seized: 75 pills
  • Residential Search Warrants Executed: 8
  • Stolen Vehicles Recovered: 2
  • Total Arrests: 74
  • DUI Arrests: 21
  • Citations Issued: 81
  • Warnings Issued: 126

“Violent crime, illegal drugs, and gang activity within our community will not be tolerated,” said Sheriff Eugene Brantley in a released statement. “I want to personally thank all of the agencies that partnered with us during this operation for their dedication and assistance in helping remove violent offenders from the streets of Augusta.”…
