NEW ELLENTON, S.C. (WJBF) – New Ellenton Commission of Public Works has issued new water restrictions for residents, due to recent drought conditions.
The South Carolina Drought Response Committee has issued a Severe Drought Status for the state.
The NECPW is now requiring all customers to reduce their water usage, listing the following restrictions:
- Eliminate the washing down of sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts, and other hard surfaced areas.
- Eliminate the washing down of buildings for purposes other than immediate fire protection.
- Eliminate the flushing of gutters.
- Limit the domestic washing of motorbikes, boats, cars, etc.
- Eliminate the use of water to maintain fountains, refection ponds and pools.
- Limit landscape watering to Monday, Wednesday and Friday for odd numbered addresses and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for even numbered addresses.
- No new taps for landscape irrigation will be issued until severe drought conditions subside.
- Activate fire hydrants for fire fighting purposes only.
