WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (KDVR) — A dispute over noise levels at a Wheat Ridge car wash has led city leaders to restrict the business’s operating hours and impose new requirements aimed at reducing sound. The business owner said the changes will cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost profit at the site.
The Wheat Ridge City Council recently approved changes to the special-use permit for Autowash, located at 5900 W. 44th Ave., following more than a year of complaints from neighbors who said noise from the facility has disrupted their daily lives.

Residents living near the intersection of West 44th Avenue and Gray Street have cited sounds from car wash dryers, vacuum stations and bay doors as a persistent nuisance.
“The noise is deafening sometimes,” said neighbor Greg Primavera. “I have people come over and they say, ‘What is that noise? It sounds like an airplane.’ And I say, ‘No, that’s the car wash.’”…
