Meet the Denver musician who was a Tiny Desk Contest finalist this year

Denver singer-songwriter Lauren Frihauf’s Spotify biography states that she’s off somewhere “looking at bugs.” Ants, in particular.

“They’re always protecting the female ants, which are deeper in the anthill,” she told CPR News. “Sometimes they’ll have a special occasion where they bring them out and if you move one ant to another hill, even if it’s the same kind of ant, they will murder it.”

The 22-year-old musician and bug enthusiast was one of five finalists in NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest this year. Her song, “One Thing Always Leads to Another,” was selected out of more than 6,000 entries. The judges highlighted Frihauf for her “transcendent” voice, calling the song “an absolute earworm.”…
