DEA issues warning after seizures in Colorado and Utah

DENVER (KDVR) — The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Rocky Mountain Field Division is warning Coloradans to be wary, as recent seizures in Colorado and Utah led to some concerning findings.

The DEA’s Southwest Laboratory identified pills containing combinations of fentanyl and carfentanil and pills including fentanyl and heroin.

“With these findings, once again we implore people in our communities to NEVER take a pill from anyone unless it comes from a prescribing doctor or pharmacy,” said DEA RMFD Special Agent in Charge David Olesky in a press release.

The DEA said that fentanyl remains the biggest drug threat the U.S. has ever faced, with hundreds of thousands of citizens being killed by exposure in the last decade. The agency described carfentanil as an animal tranquilizer that is 100 times more potent than fentanyl…
