Family speaks out after child struck by motorized cart in Centennial

DENVER (KDVR) – A family is considering legal action after their 3-year-old daughter was struck by a fast-moving golf cart driven by a city employee at Centennial Center Park.

Lauren Batchler and her family said the splash pad in Centennial is supposed to be synonymous with safety; however, she told FOX31 that it was anything but safe.

“She was coming out of the restroom to go back to the splash pad,” Batchler said. “Right as she cleared the wall, I saw a golf cart come, hit her and it spun her up into the air, and she hit the ground.”

Batchler said her daughter, Vienna, was taken to the hospital with head, abdomen and foot injuries, and that she’s continuing to recover. Batchler said the park attendants on the cart were driving too fast.
