With at least $400,000 poured by spending entities into the race for the state House District 33 Democratic primary win, the contest has become more contentious amid complaints over dark money funding.
According to TRACER, the state’s database for campaign finance materials, at least $400,000 has been spent by independent expenditure committees on electioneering communications, which may include digital, print and video advertising to oppose or support one of the two Democratic primary candidates.
The race includes Kenny Van Nguyen, the incumbent candidate who was appointed to the state House earlier this year to fill a vacancy, and Heidi Henkel, a current Broomfield City Council member.
