Denver Water to drain Meadow Creek Reservoir for dam inspection

Denver Water plans to begin draining Meadow Creek Reservoir in mid-July to allow for an inspection and upgrades to the reservoir’s 52-year-old dam, according to a July 9 operations update.

The reservoir, located west of Granby, will be lowered to about 6% of its capacity to facilitate the work, which is expected to continue through the end of 2026.

The U.S. Forest Service, which manages recreation at Meadow Creek Reservoir, will keep the area open during the project. However, water-based recreation will be limited because of the low reservoir levels. Other recreational opportunities in the area are not expected to be affected…
