Eastbound I-70 got temporarily closed after road buckled, revealing large crack

Travel in Colorado experienced a major disruption on Sunday night when a buckling highway prompted emergency road work on I-70 just east of Denver.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the buckling took place at mile post 307, impacting eastbound traffic in the area of Bennett around 8 p.m. While this prompted a full closure of the route in the impacted direction, the closure has since been lifted per the CoTrip.org travel map. Per reporting from 9News, the road reopened around 5:45 a.m. on Monday morning.
