DENVER (KDVR) — A now-former Aurora police officer has resigned instead of awaiting termination after an investigation into misconduct allegations while on duty.

The investigation, Aurora Police said, sustained “several” violations by former Officer Michael Gallagher, including the following:
- Substance abuse
- Evidence tampering
- Knowingly making untruthful statement during investigation or while under oath
According to an Aurora Police Department social media post, the investigation found that Gallagher took narcotics that were collected as evidence from a traffic stop while on duty, and that he used them while driving home from a shift, incapacitating him while driving.
