Per a press release from Joseph Bloch and Trent Ongert of Bloch Ongert, LLC out of Denver, a woman was reportedly ejected from her car during a ride down the Rocky Mountain Coaster at Copper Mountain and dragged along the alpine coaster track. Copper Mountain confirmed that mountain patrol responded to an incident that took place on the ride, with their statement on the matter noting that the guest was seated in the cart with the seatbelt fastened upon patrol arrival.
The press release from the law firm details one account of what happened during the August 17 incident. According to that press release, a Texas resident was on the Rocky Mountain Coaster, which the resort describes as the second-longest alpine coaster in North America, when she was “somehow thrown out of her car as it rounded a turn and became entangled by her seatbelt as she was dragged on the track for some distance.” Per the law firm, her husband reportedly witnessed the incident unfold from the car directly behind her, with the law firm reporting that the Colorado Amusement Rides and Devices Program is investigating the incident.
Per the law firm’s press release, the woman sustained numerous injuries, including a separated left shoulder, a broken rib that punctured and collapsed a lung and has since required two surgeries, and traumatic brain injury. The press release also noted that she sustained deep lacerations, scrapes, and abrasions that required stitches, with the incident also ripping off clothing. Per the law firm, the woman was initially hospitalized at a St. Anthony hospital in Frisco but was transported to St. Anthony in Lakewood due to the severity of her injuries…
