A motorist and a bicyclist collided in the 300 block of North Broadway early Friday, leaving the cyclist with serious injuries and triggering an investigation by Denver Police. The crash is the latest in a string of severe bicycle collisions to hit the city’s streets in recent months.
Denver Police Department confirmed the crash in a post on Denver Police Dept., which described it as a traffic crash with serious injuries involving a motorist and a bicyclist near the 300 block of North Broadway. The department said such crash alerts are only issued when at least one person involved sustains serious injuries or the crash forces road closures. Anyone with information can call police at 720-913-2000, though DPD noted that line is not monitored around the clock and urged anyone with an emergency to call 911 instead.
Denver Police also said that broader traffic crash data can be found through the city’s open data catalog, giving residents a way to track patterns on streets like Broadway over time.
A Corridor Already Under Scrutiny
The North Broadway crash adds to a mounting toll of bicycle collisions across Denver this year. Just two days earlier, Hoodline reported that a driver fled after hitting a cyclist on Montview Boulevard in East Denver, and the day before that, a scooter rider was seriously hurt in a crash on Uptown’s Restaurant Row.
