DENVER (KREX) – A 50-year-old Denver man pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and eight counts of brandishing a firearm in connection with the fatal stabbing of a fellow prison inmate and a series of armed robberies, federal prosecutors announced.
According to plea agreements and facts established in court, Ely Michael Delmastro killed fellow inmate M.T. at the Englewood Federal Correctional Institution in September 2025 using a sharpened homemade metal weapon. At the time of the killing, Delmastro was being held at the federal facility on charges related to eight armed robberies of Denver-area businesses in July and August 2024. Delmastro pleaded guilty to those robbery charges alongside the murder count.
