DENVER (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department announced that a woman was arrested in connection with a jewelry theft tied to a “blessing scam.”

According to a post, 29-year-old Carolina Pavel was arrested on Thursday for the following:
- Theft
- Crimes against an at-risk person
The theft incident occurred on Aug. 25 outside the Pacific Ocean Market in Aurora, when Pavel and another woman approached an elderly non-English-speaking woman. According to the post, the two attempted to sell the victim jewelry.
The attempted sale failed multiple times; however, a cheap necklace was allegedly placed on the victim’s neck while one of the two removed and stole her expensive silver necklace, which the victim did not realize was missing until she got home.

Officials are still seeking information on this incident and other similar “blessing scam” thefts.
