DENVER (TNND) — A planned United Airlines flyover over Denver, featuring a Boeing 777 escorted by four fighter jets and intended to honor the victims of Sept. 11, was canceled Friday because of “concerns in the community,” an airline spokesperson said.
The flyover had been scheduled for 9:03 a.m.—the exact time hijackers crashed United Flight 175 into the South Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
“As part of these events, the airline had also planned an aircraft flyover, a meaningful gesture to honor the memory of those lost within the pilot community, but will suspend those plans due to concerns in the community and instead carry on with the other events of the day,” United said in a statement…
