DENVER (KDVR) — A 44-year-old Denver man will face up to 80 years in prison after pleading guilty on Friday to multiple charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Motorcyclist reportedly caught going 111 mph in construction zone
According to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Daniel Tolentino pleaded guilty to the charges, which stemmed from a Jan. 12 carjacking in Centennial, when he approached a man at a car wash, asking him to use his cellphone. The victim declined, but gave him cash upon asking.
Tolentino then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, demanding his car keys, before fleeing in the man’s SUV. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputy found the stolen SUV in Highlands Ranch, attempting a stop; however, Tolentino fled.
A pursuit through Highlands Ranch continued northbound on U.S. Highway 85, heading towards a mobile home park in Littleton, where Tolentino went through multiple yards and fields. A successful PIT maneuver stopped the vehicle, as multiple patrol officers surrounded him.
