The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on Monday announced that it found eight officers who fatally shot a woman in 2025 were justified in using deadly force.
The shooting took place in Brighton on Feb. 20, 2025, during the execution of a search warrant by Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies. During the warrant execution, a woman identified as Katherine Bell barricaded herself in a shed.
During a standoff with SWAT officers, Bell said she was armed and claimed to be holding children hostage, according to the letter from the DA’s office.
