AURORA (KDVR) — City leaders with Aurora and construction crews met Tuesday for the groundbreaking of the Nine Mile Pedestrian Bridge going over Parker Road, also known as Highway 83.
The bridge will span Parker Road near Interstate 225 and connect the RTD Nine Mile Station with homes and businesses on the north side of Parker Road. Right now, there are designated crossing areas, but people still jaywalk across the major roadway, causing “severe” accidents.

The whole project is expected to cost around $9.3 million. Right now, crews are focusing on groundwork and prepping utilities for above-ground work.
“There will be minimal on-site operations until spring 2027 when crews return to start building the foundation and pedestrian ramps that will lead to the bridge structure,” the city of Aurora stated in a press release about the project…
