DENVER (KDVR) — The Sam Gary Branch Library is closed until further cleaning is complete following a HAZMAT investigation that led officials to find a powerful, narcotics-related substance inside.

According to a release, the investigation began around 11 a.m., when Denver Fire and Health paramedics responded to a sick call in the library. The person was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
About two hours later, library staff called 911, citing concerns that a room may have been exposed to a hazardous substance potentially linked to the person hospitalized.
Firefighters returned and initiated a Level 1 HAZMAT investigation to determine the next steps. Denver Fire Department said that preliminary testing of the substance came back as a positive hit for Xylazine, commonly mixed with fentanyl…
