New program to cover 1st mile of Veo rides ending at 2 Denver stations

DENVER (KDVR) — They’re on just about every single block in the city, and they may become even more popular after a new program launched Thursday to cover the first mile of Veo rides to a pair of Denver transit locations.

The First Mile Free program launched on Thursday, and according to a release, it was created to address a challenge preventing residents from using transit when the stations are too far for a comfortable walk.

According to the release, it’s the first program in the country that automatically subsidizes shared bike and scooter trips that end at a transit stop. The program is a two-year pilot initiative funded through an RTD grant, alongside a $65,000 Veo contribution.

The way it works is simple — riders can unlock any Veo ride, whether it’s a scooter or bike, through the app, and end the trip within the designated area at the University of Denver or Knox stations. The designated area is shown inside the Veo app…
