The Colorado Class 4A boys state swimming and diving meet didn’t treat a myriad of Pueblo swimmers very well.
Only two Pueblo swimmers, one diver, and two relay teams made the finals during the two-day meet held at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton.
Pueblo County’s John Jagger, who competed in four events, finished 14th (1:50.80) in the 200 freestyle, and 16th in the 500 freestyle (5:04.76) and was part of the 200 freestyle relay team (1:35.96) that finished 14th and the 400 freestyle relay team that finished 13th (3:28.90) in the finals on Friday..
“Everybody up and down the line swam good this weekend,” Pueblo County head coach Ken Gornick said. “There were a lot of personal best times from the preliminaries to the finals.”
Pueblo County’s Benjamin Trujillo placed 14th in the 200 IM (2:06.10) as the only other individual placer. He also swam on both relay teams.
Pueblo Central’s Lucas Wood also made a statement with a 17th place finish in diving. He scored 292.35 points in the finals on Thursday.
