‘Polar Coaster Spring’ in store for Colorado, says Farmers’ Almanac

DENVER (KDVR) — If you’re looking forward to a warm spring in Colorado to thaw out after winter, you might be disappointed, according to the Farmers’ Almanac .

Specifically, it said that “the BRRR is back” — something it predicted for winter — and may stay for a while, calling the spring in store a “Polar Coaster Spring.”

“Farmers’ Almanac long-range weather forecast calls for many days of cold temperatures,” it said.

The spring season starts March 19 with the arrival of the aptly named Spring Equinox.

Meteorologically, the spring season includes March, April and May.

What did last year look like?

In Denver, Spring 2023 started with lower-than-average snow and rainfall, with .49 inches of precipitation falling in March and .80 in April, according to the National Weather Service.

Typically, Denver sees around twice that much precipitation in those months — around .86 inches in March, on average, and 1.68 inches in April.
