DENVER (KDVR) — If you live in Denver, there’s a high chance that you have at least a little pride in the city as a whole, for any number of reasons.
While there are countless subjective reasons why Denver is a truly unique city, there are a few objective ways Denver sets itself apart from the rest.
1. The altitude
While other cities in America boast a higher elevation than Denver , the Mile High City is the only one that can truly claim the “mile high” moniker.
Denver sits at approximately 5,280 feet, which is exactly a mile.

So, while places like Albuquerque, which sits at around 5,300 feet, or Colorado Springs, which sits at just over 6,000 feet, may be higher up in the air, Denver is the only one that can claim that it is the “Mile High City.”
2. The airport
The Denver International Airport has a few unique features that set it apart from most.
For one, it is the largest airport by land area in the U.S. and is second only to Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd International Airport worldwide.
