Colorado Mom Who Fled Country After Allegedly Killing Children Wanted to Miss Custody Hearing to ‘Grieve,’ Court Docs Reveal

Kimberlee Singler is facing charges of first-degree murder, child abuse, assault, and attempted murder

New court documents revealed that the Colorado mom accused of killing her children filed a motion to court a day after the murders, saying that she couldn’t attend a custody hearing because she wants to “grieve” over her kids’ deaths.

Kimberlee Singler, 35, is accused of killing her 9-year-old daughter Elianna “Ellie” and her 7-year-old son Aden, and injuring her 11-year-old daughter, while being in the middle of a legal custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Wentz.

On December 19, the police were called to Singler’s house on reports of a burglary and found her two dead children.

The next day Singler went to a public library and used a computer to file a motion, saying that she couldn’t attend the scheduled December 20 hearing because she was injured and two of her children died, according to court documents obtained by 9NEWS .

She wrote in the motion that she and her children were attacked during a burglary at her house around 11 a.m. on December 18, and claimed that she was unable to call 911 until midnight December 19.
