Pedestrian killed, driver critically injured in crash

DENVER (KDVR) — A pedestrian was killed and a driver was in critical condition after a crash in Federal Heights on Sunday.

The Federal Heights Police Department said officers responded at around 10:41 a.m. to the scene near 92nd Avenue and Pecos Street.

Police found a woman dead in the roadway, as well as a 70’s model yellow Ford Mustang that crashed into a tree. Police said the man driving the Mustang sustained critical injuries.

The initial investigation indicates that the Mustang was going eastbound at a fast speed, and the driver lost control. The car went up on the sidewalk, hitting and killing a woman who was walking alone.

The driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The investigation was ongoing.
