DENVER (KDVR) — Police say a 13-year-old boy was arrested in a deadly RTD bus shooting last weekend in Denver.
The boy was taken into custody on Thursday and is being held on investigation of first-degree murder, the Denver Police Department said in a Friday release.
Family of man shot and killed on RTD bus has questions
The shooting happened around 6:41 p.m. last Saturday on a bus near the intersection of South Federal Boulevard and West Mississippi Avenue. Family members told FOX31 that Richard Sanchez, 60, was just a few blocks from home when he was shot and killed.
“At this stage of the investigation, it appears there was verbal exchange between the suspect and victim about the victim’s leg blocking the aisle on the bus, and the suspect then shot the victim,” police said in a release on Friday.
Sanchez was pronounced dead at the hospital. A second person was hurt and treated at the scene. They did not require hospitalization, police said.
