The heavy snow that blanketed the Front Range on Saturday failed to stop the annual “Goldens in Golden” in the city of Golden on Saturday.
“Goldens in Golden is a really special event,” Megan Pinson with Visit Golden said in a news release. “There is such deep affection for these sweet dogs. It’s a real delight for the dogs and their people, who so enjoy socializing with one another.”
“There are smiles all around and many people agree it’s the happiest day of the year!” Pinson added.
Organizers earlier worried that the weather would torpedo the local event, which was timed for the National Golden Retriever Day. It was certainly soggy, but no amount of snow could stop “Chuck,” 7, “Pumpkin,” 3 and many others, along with their owners, from showing up and walking down Washington Avenue.
Photographer Rebecca Slezak captured the festivities.
