Denver woman becomes full-time caretaker after husband injured in hit-and-run

DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver woman is becoming a full-time caretaker after a reckless driver fractured her husband’s skull in a hit-and-run.

This unfolded a week before their first wedding anniversary.

It happened on Jan. 6, just before 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of 15th and Market streets in downtown Denver.

It was a day like any other for Brittany Kim and her husband Alexander Krupa.

“We both live and work downtown so, I was working a double that day,” Kim said.

She was able to get off work early that day before she went back to work her second shift.

“Alex decided he was going to walk me to work, and that’s really not uncommon,” Kim said.

Minutes into their walk, their lives took a devastating turn.

“I turned to look at him, I saw it in the corner of my eye,” Kim said. “I guess a couple of cars were losing control. I jumped out of the way and turned back and, Alex was in the air.”

A car plowed into her husband and drove off from the scene. It’s still all a blur for Alexander.
