Loved ones remember 12-year-old and uncle killed in crash near DIA

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A Colorado family is facing unthinkable loss after a crash last Saturday evening near Denver International Airport killed two loved ones.

At the intersection of East 120th Avenue and Imboden Road, family gathered with a memorial sign and flowers on Monday, visiting the scene where they lost a father of three and his 12-year-old nephew.

“It’s just devastating, absolutely,” Darin Olson said. “Just heartwrenching to be out here and see where his last breath was taken. It’s kind of like a giant hole in the chest when you’re trying to breathe.”

According to Colorado State Patrol, a Dodge Ram 1500 was eastbound on East 120th Avenue, while a Jeep Grand Cherokee was northbound on Imboden Road at 6:15 p.m. last Saturday.

The Dodge Ram failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the driver’s side of the Jeep, according to CSP.
