Student attacks dean at George Washington High School

DENVER (KDVR) — Police in Denver released new information about a picture gaining attention from students, teachers and parents of George Washington High School.

The photo appears to show a student holding down an administrator at the high school, and police confirmed the student is under investigation.

“His hands are around her neck, she looks unconscious, maybe terrified, I don’t know,” said Kristy Crooks, a Denver Public Schools parent with the Parents Safety Advocacy Group.

The Denver Police Department said Tuesday that a school resource officer contacted a student who was involved in a fight off campus.

Denver Public Schools said two George Washington students were involved in an incident that SROs had to break up, and from there, the two students were returned to school. Police said one of the students ran from officers and was confronted by a staff member inside the school.

DPS said the staff member was the dean of culture, and while she was trying to de-escalate the situation, she was assaulted by the student.
