Denver man uses professional tree-climbing skills to rescue cats stuck in tall trees

DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver business owner has rescued nearly 100 cats stuck in trees over the years, thanks to his professional tree climbing skills.

Joe Phillips is the owner of AAA Emergency Tree Service, a nationwide 24-hour company.

FOX31 learned of Phillips’ cat-rescuing service when a viewer emailed about how grateful she was for the unique and heroic job he did saving her cat just a few days ago.

As his website mentions, trees can make or break your yard. It’s something Phillips realized at a very young age.

“I started when I was 12 years old working for one of my neighbors,” he said. “I kind of fell in love with being outside really.”

About ten years later, he would start his own business.

“When I was 21, I started out in mental health. Decided to get out of that when somebody threw me up against the wall. I started my business when I was 21 years old and I’m now 71, so I have now been doing it for 50 years,” said Phillips.
