72nd Ave. railroad crossing closed, ‘unsafe’ after hit-and-run

DENVER (KDVR) — The Arvada Police Department said a railroad crossing was unsafe and schools were impacted after a hit-and-run crash Sunday.

Police said the hit-and-run crash “damaged the railroad crossing and has made it unsafe.” APD told FOX31 this was because the crossing arms were damaged.

APD said 72nd Avenue is closed from Kipling Street to Oak Street and recommended 80th Avenue and 64th Avenue as alternate routes for drivers in the area.

Additionally, police said Lincoln Academy and Oberon Middle School were affected by the road closure.

Repairs could be done as soon as Tuesday morning.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white Dodge pickup truck. No further details were immediately released.
