Trailer with $110K worth of tools stolen from Aurora complex

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Over $100,000 worth of remodeling tools was stolen overnight from a trailer outside an Aurora condominium complex.

David Card has been doing residential and commercial remodeling in Denver for nearly four decades, but that work was cut short over the weekend. He parked his truck along the road near his rental home off Smoky Hill Road, in an area he thought was completely safe.

“Since I’ve moved here, that’s where they’ve been parking. A lot of business people park vehicles here — work trucks — and so I thought I was safe,” Card said.

His trailer has been at a job site since he’s lived there, but Saturday was the first time it wasn’t. That trailer was not just filled with equipment for Card, but his life’s work.

“I don’t have anything left. They took my life away from me, I have no way to make money to pay my bills. It’s catastrophic for me personally, because I’m theoretically looking at being evicted if I can’t find a way to make money,” Card said.
