Englewood police pursuit ends in shooting, crash in Littleton

LITTLETON, Colo. — Englewood police said a pursuit of a suspect ended in a crash and a shooting in Littleton Monday. Three people were injured, including the suspect.

Englewood police said the suspect — identified as David Sonsalla — was shot by officers as he attempted to ram police who were investigating a suspicious incident report involving Sonsalla and a woman at 3325 S. Santa Fe Drive, according to a news release.

After the suspect was shot, a pursuit ensued southbound on S. Santa Fe Drive, but ended at the Mineral Avenue intersection after Sonsalla allegedly drove the wrong way, going southbound in northbound lanes, the news release said.

Sonsalla’s vehicle crashed into two vehicles at Mineral Avenue, sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries, according to police.

Video from AirTracker7 shows a damaged gray sedan with what appears to be bullet holes in the windshield of the vehicle that is stopped on eastbound Mineral Avenue. Helicopter footage also shows two other vehicles that may have been involved in the crash.
