Denver weather: Thunderstorms are back on Thursday’s radar

Denver is forecast for another day of hot temperatures and increased chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday, mainly after 2 p.m., can be expected, with partly sunny skies and a high of 93 degrees.

“Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to form over the mountains and mountain valleys today,” the NWS said. “Heavy rainfall will be the main threat, but a brief severe storm with quarter size hail and 60 mph isn`t out of the question. Far northeast Colorado, may the strongest storms where large hail and damaging winds will be possible.”

Looking ahead to Thursday night, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms will persist through 10 p.m. Expect mostly cloudy skies and a low of 63 degrees.

Temps will stay hot and dry on Friday, with another day in the 90s. Conditions will cool heading into the weekend with highs in the 80s Saturday before shooting back up into the 90s Sunday.
